Take the Break
Hey. Hey. Hey. It is Audra Richmond, your marketing and launch strategist. I would like to welcome you to the Uncloned Insiders audio newsletter.
Audria Richmond®:Yes. It has been a minute, but I have been behind the scenes working on our brand new unclown marketing systems. If you have already preordered, thank you. If you all are interested in checking out the systems, you should be able to see all of the different systems we have remaining, below this audio link wherever you may be listening. It should also be in the email sent out with this.
Audria Richmond®:Today, I wanna talk about taking the break. And what do I mean by that? One thing about me is, like, when I first got started, with running my business, I had no choice but to work. Right? Like, when you broke, you can't you know, when you broke, you don't really have a lot of autonomy to be like, oh, I'm gonna take the week off, or oh, I'm about to take this off.
Audria Richmond®:And, typically, you have to work all the time. And in some cases, it was a time when I had to work 3, 4, 5 jobs. You know, whether it be working for someone else and or work for myself or working with clients, whatever the case may be. And so when I initially got started, it came from a place of survival. Like, I had to work.
Audria Richmond®:And then over the years, it turned into something that, like, I be it became my identity to work hard and do a lot of stuff. So even though making money became easier in my business, my mentality and my approach to work didn't change because I was still operating from a place of brokenness. Like, oh, I'm broke, so that mean I have to work hard. And we you know, depending on your background, you've probably been taught as well to, like, work hard to make money. Right?
Audria Richmond®:And that's not the case for everyone. Right? Everyone didn't grow up that way. But for majority of the people I know, that's the case. Right?
Audria Richmond®:And so as I have, you know, over the years, I have written books, I have made courses, I have, you know, went live. I'm recording this audio right now. Like, I'm always working, working, working, working, working, working, working. And there has to be a time where you take a break. There has to be a time when you take a break.
Audria Richmond®:There has to be a time, when you make time for a vacation. And I actually have tried to vacation several times. And whenever you try to, vacation for extended period of times, you will always find the flaw. You will always find the reason of why you can't actually take a break. And when I the very the only time I was able to take a break and, like, be completely off the grid was in 2019 for my, I'm 35 now.
Audria Richmond®:So it's probably, like, my 30 something birthday, whatever, however, age I turned in in 2019. But I remember going to Miami with my husband, and it was the first time that I was completely able to just, like, completely be off the grid and not have to worry about serving any clients, but it also had to, had a lot to do with the business model I had at the time. During that time, I was running our uncloned marketing membership. And with that particular membership, it was very low maintenance. We only needed a community manager, and that was pretty much it.
Audria Richmond®:And because of that, I was able to take this extended break and not have to think about work. But then the following year, I incorporated, a mastermind. And then the year after that, I did another mastermind. And so my current business model does not allow for me to break as much because there is a lot of live components to the programs I sell. Right?
Audria Richmond®:There's either, like, a live call or something that I have to show up with show up, with. Right? So then I was like, okay. Well, you're still working. You really haven't had a chance to have the vacation you want.
Audria Richmond®:I tried to take a vacation in January of 2020, like, at the top of the year right before the pandemic. We were able to break a little bit, but not a lot. And then as July come around, same thing. We you know, I was able to take, like, a week or so off, but, like, not a lot of time. And I realized that, like, how you're an entrepreneur, you can't really, you know, get off the grid for a month if you want to, or 2 weeks if you want to, or 3 weeks or whatever.
Audria Richmond®:Right. And I realized that, like, it's it's crazy because, like, I've been, like like, hiring all of these people to support my business, but I haven't found anyone to replace me. Right? I'm literally the only person in my business that know what I know to be able to coach and educate and train people in our organization. And that's when I decided last year well, really the begin ending of last year, beginning of this year to really double down on trying to replace myself.
Audria Richmond®:And even when I attempted that, it didn't go as planned. And so here we are at the end of 2021, and I'm thinking to myself, okay. You now have your book done. You now released your uncloned marketing systems. Now now you can train someone.
Audria Richmond®:We're in the process of, like, releasing the certification program where we train people, on our process to be able to support us and, obviously, to make profit in their own business, teaching people how to launch profitable marketing campaigns using our proprietary process, met this, and so on and so forth. So for me, it was all about, I need to find someone to replace me, not help me. And that's a big difference. Right? Because, like, my graphic designer is an example of someone who helps me.
Audria Richmond®:My executive assistant is someone who helps me. My brand ambassador manager is someone who helps me. Right. You know, our copywriting agency that we pay, they help me. But neither one of these people, right, even with my accountant, like everybody, I pay a whole lot of money every single month are just helping me, but they cannot replace me.
Audria Richmond®:I still had to be the face. I still had to show up. I still had to do the work. Right? And to me and I wish a lot of people would talk about this.
Audria Richmond®:When you're trying to, quote, unquote, scale your business, the first thing you need to scale is you. Like, how can you train and knowledge transfer to someone else as quickly as possible? To me, that's the ultimate win. Right? And, I just feel like, okay.
Audria Richmond®:Now I get it. Now I understand why training someone else to know what I know is important. So now we're in the process of looking for, like, program managers, people we can put in management roles, and then people who can come in and train in certain areas and be able to, you know, take over if need be. Right? Like, I don't have to be at every meeting, and I real and I noticed that when we started to have people interview for our, brand ambassador program, our brand ambassador manager was conducting those interviews.
Audria Richmond®:This is the first time that I had to do something that was, like, meeting related, and it wasn't me. I didn't have to show up for it. And that changed the game for me. So I would definitely say now the next ultimate thing is to replace myself. But in but instead of trying to constantly constantly constantly go from one thing to the next thing to the next thing, I have to take the break.
Audria Richmond®:And I imagine you have to take the break. What is something that you're doing right now in your business where you know that, like, you showing up for it, but you're not showing up your best? You're not showing up the the greatest way you can. And you know all you need to do is just take a break, whether that be over the weekend or maybe honoring yourself during the holidays, not feeling like you gotta, you know, do some crazy stuff before 2022. Because I understand that, like, whatever is gonna happen is gonna happen.
Audria Richmond®:Whoever is gonna buy is gonna buy. Whatever sales you're gonna make, you're gonna make. Right? Like, nothing is going to happen. So, I'm saying all of this to say that, like, figure out what it is that you need.
Audria Richmond®:Figure out who do you need to become. Figure out what you need to eliminate. Figure out what's not serving you anymore, and take a break. It's okay to take a break. People ain't going nowhere.
Audria Richmond®:That's why you can schedule your post. That's why you can schedule live streams. That's why, you know, you could put you can find someone to support you to keep up your social media so you can take a break. Because that's another thing. I always felt like I needed to be present in the moment posted in real time.
Audria Richmond®:And I'm about to honor the hell out these scheduling tools, next year. I'm about to honor the hell out of having other people help me create content. So whatever you need to do to to to take a break, take the break so you can come back bigger and better. So, hopefully, you found value in this. If so, there's a little button below this audio wherever you may be listening, and, I want you to leave a comment.
