It’s Hard Because You Are Not Being You
Welcome to the Unclown Insider audio newsletter. My name is Audria Richmond, and I am your marketing and launch strategist. I teach CEOs and their marketing teams how to launch game changing marketing campaigns and build unclumbed brands. Hey, y'all. Can we keep it 100?
Audria Richmond®:I literally have been thinking about this a lot. You know, you as you all know, the last audio insider newsletter that we did, basically, we were talking about finding strength when it's not working. Right? I got so many amazing, comments and feedback, and you all, came into the Facebook group and told me, how how you felt and how it resonated with you. So I deeply, deeply, deeply appreciated that, and it just got me excited.
Audria Richmond®:Right? So today, I wanna talk about why it's hard. Right? Because I I keep hearing people say it's hard. It's hard.
Audria Richmond®:It's hard. It it ain't working like it like it used to be, and it ain't this and this, it ain't that. Right? And, you know, it's hard because you're not being you. I told you we're gonna keep it 100.
Audria Richmond®:I feel like one of the reasons why it's hard because the blueprints are not working anymore. Oh, I know y'all wasn't ready for that. Okay? The blueprints aren't working anymore. You know, it it used to be a time where you could buy a course and you would get the blueprint, and when you get the blueprint, you know, you would be sitting there thinking like, okay, I'm gonna do this and this and this and this.
Audria Richmond®:I'm a copy what they told me to do. I'm a do exactly what they told me to do, and I'm a do it. And for a period of time it worked. How do I know? Because hell, I I was one of those people that used the blueprint and at some point the blueprint expires.
Audria Richmond®:Because the blueprint is a reflection of someone's else image. It's not a reflection of you. It's not you. Right? And when I look at the landscape, when I look at a lot of the reasons why people say it's not working, one of the common denominators in all of it is that people aren't being themselves.
Audria Richmond®:They're just not being themselves. And so the reason that people aren't being themselves, which is deeply and rooted in why I created this entire brand, the uncloned brand. I created the uncloned brand so people could get to a place of accepting themselves and trusting themselves and knowing themselves and loving themselves. That's why. And so when you see people online and they're saying it's not working and my business is not working and people are not connecting with me and people aren't leaving comments and people aren't this and people aren't that.
Audria Richmond®:The truth is people can see the bullshit. Can we call a spade a spade? Okay? People can see it. They can see straight through it.
Audria Richmond®:Right? It's not working for you because you're trying to work a blueprint that was never designed for you. And the market is becoming more complicated because it it it literally, focuses on and it rewards people who are being I like being authentic to themselves. Right? And so I wanted to talk to you all about this today because it's we were in a different season now.
Audria Richmond®:The blueprints have expired, it's now time to tune in to who you are, it's time to pull out the mirror and do your work, Right? It's it's it's time to, let go to b s and be yourself. And if you're being yourself, you're probably doing pretty good. And if you're not doing pretty good, it's probably because you're not doing you 100%. Maybe you're just showing the world 20%, and 20% no longer works.
Audria Richmond®:Maybe a blueprint you copy from a coach, you know, 5 years ago is dwindling. Right? We are at a time now where you gotta find out how to tap into who you are. So I wanna give you 5 ways to tap into who you are. And hopefully, at the conclusion of this audio newsletter, you can feel good about doing your work, leaning into who you are, and truly embracing and becoming uncloned.
Audria Richmond®:So let's talk about it. Number 1, how you talk. Right? So as you all know, I'm from Memphis, and so I be using some slang and things. And I think oftentimes there was a time where I did not want to amplify or utilize my boy my voice to its fullest extent.
Audria Richmond®:And what I mean by that is, I don't know if you all noticed this but my audiobooks, right, my audiobooks are not narrated by me. And the reason that I didn't narrate the books is because I didn't trust how I sound. I trust what I have to say, but I didn't trust how I sound. Right? And so recently I recorded a, like a like a I guess you can call it an affirmations podcast.
Audria Richmond®:It was called 100, Launch Affirmations. And if you all go and check that out on iTunes or podcast, wherever you listen to your podcast, you will notice that I was narrating the entire podcast. Right? With music and sound effects and all of the things. And I got so much rave reviews about it.
Audria Richmond®:It was great because that was the time where I finally decided to trust myself. I will eventually rerecord my audiobooks now that I trust my voice more, but there was a time where I didn't trust my voice, I didn't trust how I talk, I didn't trust how a little country I may sound at times, And I think that it's time for you to trust your voice. A lot of you all aren't trusting your voice and a lot of you all aren't showcasing who you truly are. Right? We only see the the social media side.
Audria Richmond®:You know, you got the private side and the social media side. Right? And, you know, I talk about this in my book, my unclone life book, about your alter ego and like becoming your alter ego, and, you know, a big part of trusting your your your voice and, like, talking how you talk is to be okay with who you are and your origin story and, like, who you have become. And so it's time to quit faking it. And even if you're not faking it, it's time to embrace it.
Audria Richmond®:Right? So that's number 1, talk how you talk. No, really quit faking it, talk how you talk. Right? Number 2, you have to learn how to trust yourself.
Audria Richmond®:And if you all are not familiar with me, my story, my whole thing, right? I talk a lot about, I tell this story often about how I didn't trust myself and how I was literally replicating what I was taught because I thought that was the way to be successful. And when I started to ask myself what do I want and what do I wanna create and how do I wanna show up in the world, that's when I started seeing traction with my company. And so but that didn't come because I decided to show up. Right?
Audria Richmond®:It it it came about because I decided to trust myself. And so you may say, okay, you saying, you know, trust yourself, what the hell are you talking about? Number 1, you gotta stop asking everybody what they think. When I created the 100 launch affirmations, it was something that I had wrote in my book. It was something that I wanted to do.
Audria Richmond®:I didn't need no approval from my clients or my customers. I didn't need my friends and my peers to sign off on it. I didn't have to run it up the food chain. That was something that I wanted to do, so guess what? I didn't need to ask anybody what they thought.
Audria Richmond®:The second thing, you need to trust your decisions. Trusting your decisions mean, okay, I'm going to do this thing, I'm not going to overthink it, and I'm cool with the outcome. Right? And stop overthinking. So you gotta get to a place where you trust your decisions.
Audria Richmond®:The next thing, mistakes don't define you. Okay? Only the outcome of it. So like for instance, whenever we make mistakes, we have to be okay with making mistakes. We're not perfect people.
Audria Richmond®:And if you're trying to avoid making mistakes, you're not doing nothing but wasting time. Because, again, going back to the second thing I just said about trusting your decisions, it's gonna come a time where you're not gonna be crystal clear on what you thought you wanted to do. You know what I mean? And so you gotta make a decision and make them fast, you know? Because the quicker you make the decision, the quicker you get to the outcome, the quicker you can deal with how you feel about it, and the quicker you can go at it again.
Audria Richmond®:Which moves me to my next thing and this is not even on the list. You all have to quit quitting so easily. Okay? You have to quit quitting so easily. Everything ain't gonna work the first time.
Audria Richmond®:The first ebook you read probably ain't gonna be it. The first coach you hire probably ain't gonna be it. You might have to get to a place where you don't need any coaches just so you can have the level of space to think through what you need to do. Sometimes being overly influenced, right, is not good because at some point, you're not gonna trust yourself if you're overly influenced by outside people. So you gotta get to a place where you actually trust yourself, and, again, that goes to being able to embrace who you really are.
Audria Richmond®:And I know this shit sounds cliche as hell, but it is the simplicity of what I'm saying on how you're gonna get to that place. The next thing, spend time getting to know yourself, right? Spend time getting to know yourself. What do you like? What do you don't like?
Audria Richmond®:Right? You know me, I'm an avid reader. I love reading. I'm not gonna apologize for that. I love watching TV.
Audria Richmond®:I love watching the movies. I love, spending time with my man. You know? I love getting to know myself. I'm into holistic health.
Audria Richmond®:I I love, holistic people. I love free spirited people. Like, I like what I like, and you gotta get to a place where you know what you like, you know what you don't like, and you can defend what you don't like, which moves me to the next thing. You all have to get to a place where you advocate for what you believe and be okay with people not agreeing with you. Everybody is not gonna be, you know, yesing you all the time.
Audria Richmond®:And if you got a bunch of yes people around you, you need to diversify your friend group. Right? I don't have a lot of yes people around me. They cool with telling me, no, dog, that ain't it. But I'm also cool with saying, no, dog, this is it.
Audria Richmond®:And so that goes back to what I said about advocating for what you believe. Some people believe that like the, you know, the only way to do something is their way or the highway or they've been they've been put into this situation where they think that this is the only way to do something. So you definitely wanna get to a place where you advocate for what you believe and be okay with people not agreeing with you. And then the last thing that I will say is that you need to prioritize where you focus your attention and remove distractions that are not in alignment with your goals. This looks like okay.
Audria Richmond®:I'm focusing my attention on these four things. Now have my attention split 4 ways. You know what? I'm gonna eliminate 3 and focus on the 1. Right?
Audria Richmond®:That doesn't mean you can't ever do the 3, but it means that I'm gonna prioritize my attention and give this one thing my attention 100%, so I can make the best thing out of it. Whether it's something whether you spend a 100% on yourself, whether you spend a 100% on a project, whether you spend a 100% eliminating stupidity out of your life, whatever it is, that's what you wanna focus on. So I really do hope that you all enjoyed this audio newsletter. I'll give you a quick recap, 5 ways to tap into who you are. Number 1, talk how you talk.
Audria Richmond®:No no, really. Quit faking it. Number 2, you have to learn how to trust yourself. This looks like not asking everyone what they think, trusting your decisions, and being okay with, like, being okay with the mistakes you find and knowing that it does not define you. The set the the number 3 is spend time with getting to know yourself.
Audria Richmond®:Number 4 is advocating for what you believe and be okay with people not agreeing with you. And then the last one is prioritizing where you focus your attention and remove distractions that are not in alignment with your goals. So as always, I would love to know your biggest takeaway.
