How I Gained 1,400 Followers in a Week
Welcome to the UnCloned® Insider newsletter. My name is Audria Richmond®, and I am your marketing and launch strategist. Today, I am gonna be talking about how I gained 1400 followers in a week, y'all. This week this past week has been so freaking lit on so many levels. I'm still checking my DMs.
Audria Richmond®:I'm still getting opportunity, and I I just I really wanna talk about how I've been preparing for this moment. Because it's one thing to say, oh, I did this and, you know, voila, look at me. But I I really wanna speak to a few things that I that I feel like contribute, to this because I've I've done a lot of podcasts. I've been featured a lot of places. However, I wanna tell you why I feel like this particular format, was really, helpful in gaining the followers and the platform itself.
Audria Richmond®:So if you don't know, I was recently featured on the Social Proof podcast with David Shands with the Sweepers for Suckers brand, and, he has a YouTube channel as well as a, podcast on Itunes and other podcasting platforms. Right? And my podcast went live on Monday, which was the which I wanna say let me look at my calendar just so I don't jack this up. So it was on the 10th, which is right after Mother's Day. And I actually have recorded this podcast in January of 2021.
Audria Richmond®:And so I was waiting on it to come out, waiting, waiting, waiting, and then it finally came out. And I couldn't have I actually am excited about when it came out because I think if it would've came out earlier in the year, I was a little overwhelmed, from 2020, really just from all of the success of my book and really just looking at what was going on. And I'm I'm excited that it came out in May because I had the time to take a break and to fully take advantage of the new people who are coming into the unclown community. But I really wanna speak to what I feel like was the success of that actual interview. Right?
Audria Richmond®:Number 1, people love seeing you on video. Right? And and I know for me personally, like, I have a really good personality. And if you've ever watched any of my live streams or any of my video content where I'm actually on camera, I do have a good on camera personality. Right?
Audria Richmond®:And I was a little afraid to to be I guess you could say just to be like I normally be with my people because I don't really know his people, his platform, and so on and so forth. And so I learned a valuable lesson and just, like, it's cool to be yourself. It's it's cool to talk with a little slang, a little twang. It like, it's good. Right?
Audria Richmond®:And so doing that interview, it felt like I was talking to, you know, like a friend. Right? Like, I was on a phone call with someone, and I think people were able to see that in the interview. I also love the format of the interview as well as the questions that was being asked because, typically, whenever I am doing interviews is very static. Right?
Audria Richmond®:It's like I ask a question, you answer it. I ask a question, you you answer it. But with this particular podcast, it was more conversational, and it felt like, you know, I was just hanging out. It didn't feel like an interview. And so as a result of that interview going live, that at the time of this recording, that interview has, like, 25,000 views, which is insane.
Audria Richmond®:It has, like, right at 200 or a little bit over 200 comments. And what I love about this opportunity is that the community actually, you know, consume the YouTube channel and they're actually listening. And what's what's really cool is that I'm actually got a lot of engagement across the board, not just on Instagram, but I got LinkedIn connections. I have faith Facebook friend request as well as YouTube subscribers. So the cool thing about this opportunity was that all of my social media channels grew as a response to this actual interview.
Audria Richmond®:Now you may be thinking, okay. Well, what? Well, how much money did you make? I made right at $7,000 this week just from that live stream. I mean, just from that interview.
Audria Richmond®:Right? And a lot of people who came to the site purchased books, they purchased courses, they purchased some other things that I had, which moves me to this other thing I want to talk about. And, you know, in my first book, are you ready for the yes. How to prepare how to prep your personal brand for lucrative opportunities. So I have a personal brand.
Audria Richmond®:I operate as Audrey and Richmond. If you don't have a personal brand or if you're not building your personal brand in addition to building your brand, I highly, highly, highly recommend it. And if you haven't purchased, are you ready for the yes? That needs to be on your to do list. However, if you have decide you know, decided to develop your personal brand, I'm quite sure you you get to see you get to reap the rewards of that because people ask you to come and speak and all of that stuff.
Audria Richmond®:So I feel like I was prepared mainly because when people came to my page, it was optimized. What are you what are you talking about, Audra? What are you talking about optimized? I talk about this a lot, but I'm a I'm a break it down here again. When people are discovering you, right, you gotta keep in mind these 1400 people who did not know who I was, where I came from, or anything was going to go and do their due diligence.
Audria Richmond®:Let's just forget the podcast opportunity for a few seconds. Let's just say I did not have the podcast opportunity. Any person on any given day when they come to my profile, what are they going to come and see? And not just my profile, but an entire 360 experience. So all of those people who connected me with on LinkedIn, guess what?
Audria Richmond®:I have optimized LinkedIn profile For everybody who came and looked at my Instagram, guess what? I have a optimized Instagram profile. For anyone who went to archer richmond.com, because people did go to my personal website, they were able to see that it was optimized. For anyone who went to my ecommerce store, which is arjurerichmond.shop, they were able to see that it was optimized. For anyone who came to look at my, Facebook business page or to look at my YouTube channel, it was optimized.
Audria Richmond®:When I talk about optimization, I'm talking about making sure your links are filled in, making sure that you're creating content on a consistent basis. I'm talking about making sure that your brand is aesthetically pleasing, aesthetically pleasing. So when people do come and find you, they're like, oh, man, this person's page is useful. I actually have an entire collection in my store, which is the, you know, audit collection, the social media and website audit collection. And the reason I have that collection is because people ask me all the time, hey, why people don't don't follow me on Instagram or why people are not buying anything from my store.
Audria Richmond®:It's not optimized. And when we talk about optimization, it's more than just posting. Right? What type of things are you posting? Are you asking for the sale in the actual comments?
Audria Richmond®:Are you being consistent? It's not about, oh, I post, you know, a quote, a photo, a quote, a photo, and then I found the best 30 hashtags. It's more to it than that. Are you being useful? I always tell people, you know, look at your let's just talk about Instagram for a sec because I know a good deal of you all are are on Instagram.
Audria Richmond®:Your Instagram should feel like a museum. And whenever you go to a museum, it's always a curated experience. Right? Typically, the museum will have, like, theme based, exhibits there. Right?
Audria Richmond®:And when you go, you were like, oh, I wanna go to this show or I wanna go to this exhibit or I wanna go to this particular museum because they curate these different things. So we went to the Museum of Fashion. What would what would you curate? Could I come and see photos of you in different outfits? Would you be giving me tips and strategies on how to dress myself?
Audria Richmond®:Would I be able to see versatility in the history of fashion and everything that goes with that? If you are a marketing person, would I be able to go to your page and get some marketing tips, get some marketing strategies, so on and so forth? If you are, a therapist, right, would I be able to go to your page and get some therapy tips or be able to learn how to advance my personal life? Right? If you are a a mom's coach, right, you work with mompreneurs.
Audria Richmond®:Would I be able to go and see you being a mom and you giving me tips and strategies and ideas on how I can improve myself? That's what I mean when we talk about optimization. Obviously, there's so much more. That's why I really want you all to go get that social media website audit if you haven't already done so because there's literally a checklist of everything you need to check for and make sure you have it. So I know oftentimes when I talk about this collection, you know, some people say, well, I don't really know what it is or whatever.
Audria Richmond®:It's a checklist. It's literally a checklist that comes with a video that show you step by step what you need to fix and what you need to improve. If you feel like you out here killing it, then, hey, you don't need it. But if you're like, hey, man, I I could use some improvement, then I highly recommend that you grab it. Okay?
Audria Richmond®:So the 1400 followers, right, like, what happened? So the way he rolled it out was he initially rolled it out on YouTube and the podcast. Right? And I would say, like, the first two days of it going live, that's when I got the most followers. I also seen a spike in followers towards the weekend because, obviously, people are off on the weekend.
Audria Richmond®:They can consume more content. Another thing I noticed with this podcast release was that people were watching it in the car. They were watching it on TV. They were watching it on their phone. They were watching it on their computer.
Audria Richmond®:And people were taking screenshots and tagging me, in the stories, me and him. And I thought that was pretty cool because it got me to thinking about, you know, why I love going live on YouTube and my my Facebook page because it has a traditional TV format. Right? And so the people who are watching it at home, they're able to watch it just like they will watch TV. So that was pretty cool, to be able to have that experience.
Audria Richmond®:So that was cool. The second thing, what else happened? Right? So I got another 100 followers, on Sunday. So the time of this recording, I'm recording this on May 16th.
Audria Richmond®:By the time you listen to it, it'll be May 17th. But the cool thing about Sunday was I got featured on Courtney. Well, not necessarily feature. Courtney pulled me into her livestream, the CEO of the main choice. And one of the things that was really cool about that experience was that, she recently had followed me doing clubhouse day.
Audria Richmond®:So let's just say early January, December, and she had been following me. And she began to shout me out on her livestream because I was wondering why I was getting so many tags on Instagram. And I was getting tagged, and and when I came into the room, she was telling people about my brand, my brand, Unclown. It really talking about how cool it was and how I was moving as a service provider, in the digital space and the ecommerce space. And I thought that was pretty cool, right, considering that I wasn't in the room.
Audria Richmond®:Me and her has not personally changed numbers, but we follow each other on social media. Right? And so I thought it was was cool that she brought me in and allowed me to have an opportunity to talk to her community and give some tips, for her people. And that was really cool. Right?
Audria Richmond®:I really enjoyed that experience, as a result of being on that particular, Instagram live, I got like a 100 followers. Right. And it kind of moves me to another thing I want to talk about. So, yes, I'm always talking about being prepared. But one thing I learned that I could do better is be prepared earlier, meaning I'd probably need to start setting my day a little bit earlier.
Audria Richmond®:Normally, my day kinda starts at 10. I kinda wake up around about 7 or 8, and I'm just like, you know, walking through the house, maybe listening to, some music podcast, or I'm watching some type of educational video. That's typically what I like to do in the morning is learn and catch up on work. But I realized that I could be taking advantage of more opportunities if I would get up a little bit earlier and if I would be prepared, meaning be dressed up, you know, have my clothes on, have my makeup on, or whatever I'm gonna be doing for that day. And, you know, COVID has made a lot of people kinda just be wake up and just be chilling the whole day and just lounging all day.
Audria Richmond®:And I realized that, you know, when people are giving you an opportunity, you gotta be ready. Right? That's that's the whole thing I talk about the time being ready for the yes. And so when she was like, hey. I'm gonna bring you into the live.
Audria Richmond®:What's going on? I was like, oh, shit. I need to go run and get the crust out of my eyes and throw my hair in a ponytail. I threw on some lipstick and I threw on a hoodie. Right.
Audria Richmond®:Confirm a bra and I just throw on this hoodie. And, you know, I went and went live, but I also felt a little unprepared. Right? Even though my Instagram is popping, my social media channels are popping, I have something to sell to people. I didn't feel like I was personally ready, at that time, and I was like, I don't wanna feel like that.
Audria Richmond®:So the only way to not feel like that is to actually be prepared. That's not to say that people weren't feeling me or or any of that. It's just a personal feeling of mine, that I wanted to improve. So and so that was pretty cool. So that's how I gained 1400 followers, this week.
Audria Richmond®:It was a really, really cool opportunity made, like I said, close to $7,000 this week, and counting because people are still watching the interview. People are still coming over to my page, from that opportunity. And I'm just thankful. I'm just super, super, super, duper thankful. The other thing I want to talk about too is like I want to know what your biggest takeaway was from this newsletter, right?
