Audria Richmond®:What's up? What's up? What's up? I wanna talk about 4 habits you must master for wealth. The reason I wanted to have this discussion is because I see a lot of people not getting to to the goals they want.
Audria Richmond®:And they're like, I don't know why this is not working. I'm not, you know, I this is not working. Or they let they let life get in the way. What do I mean by letting life get in the way? The job, you know, the parenting, like, all the things.
Audria Richmond®:Right? The caretaking. We let a lot of these things get in the way of the things that we say we want for ourselves. And one of the biggest things that that you're gonna have to focus on, especially when you want change, is you're gonna have to change your habits. You're not gonna be able to do your current utilize your current habits to have a new result.
Audria Richmond®:You're gonna have to have new habits in order to have a new result. And so when I wasn't making any money and when I was broke, the habits that I'm a tell you about having and embodying, I wasn't doing and it shows. It showed in a lot of different ways. Right? And so I feel like of the 4 habits, I had one of the habits but I didn't have the knowledge, which is in my opinion the most major part.
Audria Richmond®:And so I wanna have this conversation from a place of abundance, not a place of lack. And I really want you all to get to a place where these simple habits, it doesn't matter. You don't have to be in a fancy mastermind program or a fancy program or need a fancy coach to to embody a lot of what I'm about to say. It's really about giving yourself the opportunity to put yourself in position to do the work. Right?
Audria Richmond®:That's that's really what it boils down to. And I know, like, do the work sounds so vague because it is vague in a sense, but you can't get to the next level without doing the work. And so what are some of those habits that you need to embody that will power you empower you to do the work? So number 1, read books. I know you like, what?
Audria Richmond®:That's in habit? Yes. You will be surprised how many people don't read books or start on books and don't finish them or buy them and don't read them. Let me just say this. When I was broke, I was not reading books.
Audria Richmond®:I believe my first business book I had bought once I was in business for, like, 4 years. I think I was in business for, like, 4 or 5 years, and I was broke as a joke because I didn't know what the hell I was doing from a business perspective. See, you can be in business and not have business understanding, not knowing how to operate a business, how to get clients, how to attract people to you, how to market and sell your products and services, how to put together compelling offers that people wanna buy. And I think oftentimes when we talk about reading a book, it can feel a little slow, but let me tell you a little something. When you're reading a book, you're literally getting that person's knowledge combined in a very short period of time.
Audria Richmond®:Right? So for instance, let's use my book, Are You Ready for the Yes for an example. When I wrote that book in 2017, I had been in business probably around about 7 or 8 years. And the first five of those years, I was broke. And then I learned how to make 6 figures online by developing and building my personal brand and that became the the catalyst for the book.
Audria Richmond®:Like, you know what? I made more money developing my personal brand than anything. Let me write a book about it because that can help people, but I didn't write the book on personal branding until I had an established personal brand. Right? And that's the point of why you would read a book.
Audria Richmond®:Oftentimes, not all the time because, you know, now we live in a world of chat g p t and everybody think they can write a book with chat g p t, but that's a whole another story. I want you to know that when you are, how can I say this? Most books come from experience, really good books. It come from a big idea experience. So if you can get borrowed experience for $20 or less depending on the cost of the book, Some books cost 30.
Audria Richmond®:But let's just say $30 or less, you can get somebody's wisdom. Some people been in, you know, has been in business for 30, 40, 50 years, a decade. You know, I'm coming up on 15 years of business. And so when you've been in business for a very, very, very long time, you have more wisdom, more knowledge, and all of that. But if I take my 15 years of knowledge and give it to you in 10 minutes or 5 minutes or even 3 hours if it's an audiobook, why wouldn't you read the book?
Audria Richmond®:You get what I'm saying? So, like, I think the fastest track to success is reading a book. And let me give you another example of this. When I was really struggling with understanding hiring and leadership and all of that stuff, I was, in a program, and I really wasn't getting that information. I wasn't being taught leadership, which is what I really needed at the time, and I wasn't being taught how to hire, which is what I really needed at the time.
Audria Richmond®:And not just hiring on a basic level like this is how you put up applications, blah blah blah. That was available. But I'm talking about the 2nd layer of hiring where what do you do with these people once you get them? How do you how do you make sure that when you bring them into your business, they are helping you get the work done? How do you develop a vision as a leader, so on and so forth.
Audria Richmond®:And it wasn't until I came across the book traction that like changed the game for me. Then I read a book called Teamwork, changed the game for me. Okay? And I could keep going on and on and on, but these books allow me to collapse time. Right?
Audria Richmond®:It didn't take me nothing but, like, a day because I read both of these books that I just said in a day. So if I could take somebody who been doing it 20, 30 years and read it in one day, my life has changed. Like right now, I'm reading Power Moves by Sarah Jakes Roberts. Right? Change my it's changing my life.
Audria Richmond®:So I feel like one of the habits that you must master for wealth, right, and we're not talking about just financial wealth but mental wealth, intellectual wealth which is extremely valuable. You gotta get into reading. And if you are reading, maybe need to switch up what you're reading. Let's say you're an avid reader of romance. Read you some business books.
Audria Richmond®:Okay? Let's say you're an avid reader of business books. Read you some personal development books. Like diversify as well. It's not just read books, but diversify.
Audria Richmond®:And I'm a give you, a hack that Eric pastor Eric Thomas talked about, ET the hip hop preacher, what he talked about. He said, I read books based on what I need help with the most. And that's a good way of knowing what books you need to read right now as opposed to having, you know, 20, 30 books and you don't know which one to, like, focus on. Right? So that's number 1.
Audria Richmond®:Alright? Number 2, you have to be learning all the time. What do I mean by this? It's not just about learning anything, but, like, when you think about, like, the super successful businesses. Right?
Audria Richmond®:Because at least if you're listening to me, you wanna be successful in some regard. You wanna build an unclaimed brand in some regard, you want to become the obvious choice of of your industry, that's most likely why you're listening to me. And so when you think about a super successful business, right, like, do you understand how to operate your business? Do you understand how to run your business? Do you understand how to market your business?
Audria Richmond®:How to hire in your business? What are all of those business fundamentals that you need to know that you have not prioritized? Right? I'm always learning. My friends notice.
Audria Richmond®:Anybody that's connected to me notice I'm always reading something. I'm always, enrolled until some type of course course and I'm always investing in a course, a program, an event, or an experience. Right? I never get comfortable with learning because I don't assume that just because I took one course that I know it all. Or just because I watch one video, I know it all.
Audria Richmond®:That's the worst thing you could do when it comes to learning. Right? So always be learning. Everybody that I know that's at the top of that game that's killing it, they are learning all the time. They have removed ego around learning.
Audria Richmond®:They don't assume they know everything. They know they don't know everything, and they actively seek somebody to pour into them some information, some knowledge, some and let me just say this, learning you can learn so many different ways. Right? You got audio books, you got, obviously, you got books, you got courses, you got YouTube videos, you have mentors, coaches, coaching programs, membership sites. You have events, experiences, field trips, workshops, intensives, assessments.
Audria Richmond®:There are so many ways that you can learn. So don't feel like the only way you gotta learn is to be in somebody's coaching program. Okay? Alright. Number 3.
Audria Richmond®:And this is this is gonna sound simple but you'll be surprised how many people don't do this. Ask questions. Get curious. Stop thinking that your question is stupid or you shouldn't ask it. Right?
Audria Richmond®:And let me also add a a a different component to this as well. It's not just about asking questions, but it's about asking questions to the right people who have experience. Keyword, right people who have experience. There's a lot of people who will answer your question who don't have a leg of experience. Right?
Audria Richmond®:They would just be like, oh, yeah. It's this. And it's like they're just saying it off the top of their head because they read it or something like that. You wanna make sure that the answers you seek from people are people with experience. You should not be asking your homegirl at work who has never had a business should you start a business.
Audria Richmond®:You should not be on social media asking people what you should be doing with your life, your brand, and your business. I think that a lot of the times when we're seeking advice and when we're trying to get our questions answered, sometimes number 3. So that was habit number 3. So that was habit number 3. So that was habit number 3.
Audria Richmond®:So that was who actually have experience with the thing you wanna learn. So that was habit number 3. Ask questions but not just any questions. You wanna make sure you're asking questions to the right people who have experience. And number 4.
Audria Richmond®:Right? Because you might be saying, Audria, I read books. I'm always learning. I'm always in a course. I'm always this.
Audria Richmond®:Girl, I ask questions. I am the question asking queen or king. Okay? Okay. But are you implementing?
Audria Richmond®:Mhmm. Yeah. So that's number 4. That's habit number 4, implement. You wanna make sure that you are implementing and not just implementing to be defeated.
Audria Richmond®:What do I mean by that? You implement and you get defeated because it didn't go how you wanted to go or it's not going how you wanted to go. You don't you you only get better because you're doing the work. You have to be implementing what you're doing. You have to put it out there, get a response, and do it again.
Audria Richmond®:Put it out there, get a response, do it again. And it's it's gonna become just like tying your shoes. And so I see a lot of people that get to the implementation phase and they they they they get stuck because they're just like, I don't know how to do it and and I don't know where to go and what tool did I use for this and this, then, and the third. Let me help you solve your problem real, real fast, and guess what y'all? It's in a book.
Audria Richmond®:I want y'all to go read the book who not how if you have not read it already. And if you are experiencing overwhelm from what you gotta do, you probably need to go back and read who not how if you've already read it before. And the reason I'm saying is because if we spend too much time trying to figure out how things work when we have absolutely no interest in it, we will find ourselves wasting time or even worse not doing it at all. Right? So you wanna make sure you get yourself to a place where you're implementing what you are learning.
Audria Richmond®:It's not just about, you know, reading the books, learning all the time, and asking questions. If you ain't even going to apply what you're learning, that's how you submit the things that you're learning. Alright? So again, these are 4 habits you must master for wealth. Let me go over it one more time because I really want you all to get it.
Audria Richmond®:Right? Number 1, read books. Okay? Number 2, you have to be learning all the time. Number 3, ask questions not just to anybody but to the right people who have experience.
Audria Richmond®:And number 4, implement what you are learning. Don't just learn something and just put it in your brain and never execute on it. Go implement what you just learned and I promise you, you will see a drastic change in your life because you're gonna be doing what majority of the world is not doing. Majority the people who who, like, oh my god, I hate my life. I wish I was making more money.
Audria Richmond®:I did it. They're not reading books. They're not learning, they're not asking questions and they're most importantly not implementing something new. And let me give you something else that's not a part of this list. You're gonna have to reinvent who you are in order to receive what you need to get to go to the next level.
Audria Richmond®:You're gonna have to do your personal development work. You're gonna have to do your prayers. You're gonna have to eliminate some people. You're gonna have to get super focused. You're gonna have to decline some fun time so you can get to a place where you can create leverage in your life.
