10 Speedy Success Habits

Audria Richmond®:

Welcome to the UnCloned® insider audio newsletter. My name is Audria Richmond, and I am your marketing and launch strategist. I work directly with my clients to show them how to build uncloned brands and launch profitable marketing campaigns. We are the brand that you come to when you want to become or remain the obvious choice of your industry. What up, everyone?

Audria Richmond®:

First off, I wanna say thank you for all the birthday wishes. When I tell you my birthday was amazing, like, I couldn't have not asked for a better birthday. My husband hosted me a private birthday party dinner, which was so freaking cool because it was a surprise. I didn't even know he was doing that. I had been telling him like, hey.

Audria Richmond®:

I don't really wanna do anything. I don't wanna do anything. And thank God he didn't listen to what I was saying, and he just followed his heart and put together something. And so it was an amazing, amazing, amazing dinner. We was able to link up and have some great conversations.

Audria Richmond®:

I received amazing gifts from all my friends. Like, all my friends gave me amazing gifts, books, experiences. I got some Louis Vuitton shoes. I mean, y'all, my friends, they be loving on me. Okay?

Audria Richmond®:

And I remember when I used to pray for friends like that. Right? And I really thought that today would be great to talk about how amazing it is to really understand that you can have what you want and that speed loves success. The success, low speed, like, they they go hand in hand together. And so the reason why I said I pray for the friends that I currently have is because oftentimes, you you don't get what you don't pray for.

Audria Richmond®:

You don't get what you don't ask for. And but you also have to I had to change myself. Right? I had to stop saying things like, you know, I don't really got, you know, female friends or people don't wanna be friends with me. Like, I had to really rethink that mindset.

Audria Richmond®:

Right? And I also had to change my relationships with a lot of the women I had at that time. Right? And so a lot of my friendships that I've had, you know, I think my longest standing friendship right now with my best friend is probably 7, 8 years. And so over the course of all of these years, I've been making it my business to become a friend that's worth being befriended.

Audria Richmond®:

Right? That mean my habits needed to change. That means how I showed up needed to change. That means how I, sit with my friends and talk to my friends, like, all of those things had to change. Right?

Audria Richmond®:

And I know today's topic is about 10 speedy success habits, but I think it's important that you understand that change is required. Right? You current if you're not where you want to be, that should be a clear indication that you're not doing something right. Like, instead of beating yourself up, just begin to ask yourself, what habits do I need to change or what habits do I need to adopt to get to where I'm going? Right?

Audria Richmond®:

And so I wanna start with a story. I have a friend who been having tennis on her bucket list for a long time. Okay? And this is also a friend who is very ambitious, like, super ambitious, come hell or high water, she's gonna get it. Right?

Audria Richmond®:

And one thing I've learned about her that I love and appreciate, right, is that she has taught me speed. Right? When I say speed, speed. Okay? Say speed with me.

Audria Richmond®:

And I think out of all the friends that I have, this friend is by far the speediest. Okay? Meaning, we could be talking on I thought and let me just say this. Before I met me. Right?

Audria Richmond®:

Before I met me. Right? Because people used to always say, like, you're a fast archer. You execute fast. You you get things done.

Audria Richmond®:

Like, yeah. She topped the cake. Okay. And what I mean by that is she don't waste time. She don't overthink.

Audria Richmond®:

She's not in her head. When she says she's she wanna get something done, she gets something done. And I think that has a lot to do with how she makes decisions. And that's why she has accumulated the success that she has because she understands that decision making is is definitely a habit you have to have, and you can't be overthinking and being in your head. Right?

Audria Richmond®:

And so when she decided that she wanted to learn tennis, on day 1, she hired a coach. She didn't go and buy the the tennis racket and the tennis clothes and, you know, went outside and and pretend to learn how how to be a tennis player. She hired a tennis coach off the rip. And so her being able to do that didn't just start when she wanted to learn tennis. It also applied in business.

Audria Richmond®:

When she wanted to scale her business, she hired a coach. When she wanted to learn new things, she read a book. When she wanted to acquire new knowledge, she did the research and did all of those things. And so the reason I'm leading with that is because you have to understand that in order to be a better version of yourself, you gotta change your habits. So I wanna share with you 10 speedy success habits that if you adopt these habits, if you adopt these beliefs, if you really begin to embrace what I'm going to share with you, you can be successful.

Audria Richmond®:

Right? And, obviously, you're not limited to these 10. I was just brainstorming in these the 10 that came to me in this moment for this conversation. So grab a pen, grab a notebook, and we're about to get into it. Alright?

Audria Richmond®:

So number 1, hire people who have who who have only done it before. Right? Like, don't hire people who haven't done what you wanna do. Right? And I think that when you're online and you're dealing with a lot of people online who say they know how to do things, a lot of the times, they can't show you receipts.

Audria Richmond®:

They can't show you proof. They can't show you evidence. So hire only people who have done it before, And not only done it before, but done in a way that you actually respect. Because I'll give you an example. So when I first wanted to learn how to create a certification program, I was looking for the best.

Audria Richmond®:

And not only was I looking for the best, I was looking for someone who also had a certification program. And I remember recently, there was this lady who was like, I'm a teach you how to start a certification program and this and the third, and this lady did not own any trademarks. She did not have any certification program herself. She was trying to leverage what she had done with someone else, and it was just a no for me. Because in my mind, you don't really have that experience, so I can't pay you that money.

Audria Richmond®:

Now the coach that I end up hiring, she's amazing because not only has she done it before, but she'd been in the game for a long time, like, over 15 years running her certification program. And not only has she done it for herself, she's also helped other clients develop their certification program. And she's a active participant, you know, an owner of a certification program. So why am I saying this? It's so important to hire people who have evidence, proof, and can show your receipt that they've done it before because there's a lot of people who can come on this Internet and lie and say they've done something they really haven't.

Audria Richmond®:

Right? Alright. Number 2, get out of the DIY mindset as quickly as possible. I really wish that I would have embraced that faster because, you know, I actually started in the creative world, you know, knowing how to take professional photos. You know, I learned how to develop a magazine from scratch.

Audria Richmond®:

I learned how to do graphic design. I self taught myself, you know, photo editing. And so when you are a person that kinda like used to doing it yourself, it's actually going to hunt you. I know that's like a deep word, but like, it's gonna start hunting you when you're ready to scale and grow your business. Because when you've gotten really good at doing it for yourself, it's gonna be very hard to get support with giving it to someone else to help you because you're you're know I'm I'd be challenged on this all the time.

Audria Richmond®:

Like, I'll have someone do something for me. And if they don't do it the way I wanna do it, I'll just be quick to jump in. And I really feel like God is dealing with me on this because I'm currently working with some service providers now where I'm having to exercise my right to say what I want and I'm having to exercise, you know, how to how to tell people what I need and I have to learn patience. You know, they might need to do 10 rounds of editing or 5 rounds of editing or 3 rounds of editing. Everybody gonna nail it on the first try.

Audria Richmond®:

But when you're looking for someone to support you, that kinda comes with the territory. But I also realized that if I woulda kept a DIY mindset, I would, you know, I'll I would be nowhere because I'm trying to do everything myself and I, you know, I had I I had some pages developed for me, for some funnels, and I thought that I could just take my DIY skill and just go in there and duplicate it and switch out some stuff. And I'm like, woah. They did this so well. I don't even know how to I don't even know how to edit this.

Audria Richmond®:

And that's the beauty of that's the beauty of getting out of DIY mindset. Like, I wanna be so far removed from how to do stuff that, you know, I do believe there's pros and cons to both. Right? When you know how to get yourself out of a pickle and you know how to fix and do some things, that's great. However, that can also be a setback because you won't allow people to support you because you know how to do it.

Audria Richmond®:

So hopefully, you all will be able to balance the 2. But number 2 is get out of the DIY mindset as quickly as possible. Number 3, and this is probably my personal favorite. I feel like I have to tell this to my clients more times than I would like, which is more so a leadership thing. But nevertheless, I really feel like everyone I don't care if you the CEO, the COO, the social media manager, the CMO, the CFO.

Audria Richmond®:

I don't really care what your role is. You should become obsessed with learning. This could be reading books. This could be taking courses. It doesn't really necessarily matter the medium.

Audria Richmond®:

What matters is that you are an active participant of learning something new pretty much every day. You've developed a habit. Right? And when you don't learn all the time, it's very hard for you to remember things and process things and but when you begin to make it a habit, you know, you can get through books faster, you can get through courses faster, you can get through things faster. And I wanna give you a bonus here with the learning thing.

Audria Richmond®:

Learn to fall in love, like, learn how to love things you don't really have an interest in. Right? Like, I meet a lot of people, who's who tell me things like, oh, I don't really care about learning how to launch. I just wanna get the clients. Well, if you ain't got no team and if you don't have anybody on your team that cares about this topic, unfortunately, the buck stops with you.

Audria Richmond®:

You're gonna have to literally learn how to do these things. And if you don't wanna learn how to do these things, you have to find a new goal because it's kinda like if I'm saying, you know, hey. I wanna learn how to play basketball, but I don't wanna dribble the ball. Like, I just don't wanna dribble the ball, but teach me how to play basketball. That is so goofy, yet a lot of people have this belief that they can skip a foundational aspect of something and get to whatever the goal is.

Audria Richmond®:

It's very goofy when you think about it. Right? And so number 3 is all about becoming obsessed with learning. Learn how to fall in love with learning, learn how to love learning, and, again, become obsessed with it. Number 4, learn how to invest and change your relationship with money.

Audria Richmond®:

Quit thinking that, like, oh, her program is x y z, you know, amount of money, and they trying to take my money, and you gotta change your relationship because they have something that you don't know. And you should actually be blessed. You should be, you know, thanking them and happy that someone took the time out to record a course, to create a program, to write a book, to give you a skill set that you have a desire for that you don't know how to have. Right? And so when it's time to make those investments, you have to change your relationship with money.

Audria Richmond®:

You can't think that everybody's trying to get you. You can't be cheap all the time. Everything ain't gonna always be free. And so you have to learn to be willing to invest. I'm not saying buy every single thing you see on the Internet, but what I am saying is you really need to unadopt the mindset that everything got to be free or it has to be cheap because that mindset is not going to get you far.

Audria Richmond®:

So number 4 is learn how to invest, change your relationship with money. Number 5, be picky about the rooms you go into. This is something that I really wish that I would've prioritized early on in my career. I think that I went I went through a phase where I just kinda wanted to be in the room because I was an entrepreneur. But right now, at at 2024, at the time of me recording this audio newsletter, I ain't showing up nowhere I don't wanna be.

Audria Richmond®:

I'm not going in any room that I feel like, you know, I'm not going in any room where it's gonna be super hypey, no substance, you know, overly influencing. I don't even know if it doesn't work, but you get what I'm saying. Like, every influencer from around the country is there. It's just like it just ain't a vibe. Right?

Audria Richmond®:

Like, I personally love to be intellectually stimulated, and I just cannot go into rooms where dumb conversations are happening. I can't go into rooms where, you know, kindergarten, conversations are happening. And I also you also have to be clear around why you're going in a room in the 1st place. Are you going to learn or you're going to get a photo? And I think that when you really get clear on why you're going in a room, you can you can level set your expectations.

Audria Richmond®:

At this point in time in my career, I only wanna go into rooms where I feel like I'm going to be different on the other side. I don't wanna leave and feel like, damn, I only got, like, you know, a sticky note work, the new things. Like, you know what I mean? Like, I just I just can't. And so that has made me very picky lately around what events I'm going to attend and where I'm gonna, you know, give my presence.

Audria Richmond®:

So you wanna be picky about the rooms as an attendee. You also wanna be picky about the rooms as a leader, and you also wanna be picky about the rooms when it comes to your career advancement. Stop showing up in places where you're not going to be challenged. That's another thing too. It's like stop going into the easy rooms, and that's something I had to tell myself.

Audria Richmond®:

Like, stop going into the room that you know you're gonna be the star in. Go into some rooms where you ain't gonna be the star. Go into some rooms where nobody ain't gonna know who the hell you are, what you do, or where you came from. That should that should be a clear indication that you are getting, you know, that degrees of separation. Right?

Audria Richmond®:

And so that's what I'm on right now. How can I show up in new spaces, new rooms where no one knows who the hell Arjorie Richmond is? That's how I'm going to advance my career. Right? Alright.

Audria Richmond®:

Number 6, be picky about your friends. This is a good one. I think that, you know, I have definitely beef befriended and unfriended some people over the past decade, especially in this online marketing space. I you know, this what I will say because I have really healthy friendships now. You definitely wanna be picky about who you talking to every day.

Audria Richmond®:

You wanna be picky about who you share your deepest, darkest secrets with. You wanna be very picky about who you share space with, who you take photos with, who you affiliate yourself with. Because a lot of that stuff is you know, it's really politics at the end of the day, especially if you are a public figure. Right? If you are someone that people recognize and someone that people know, you had to be very, very, very careful about who you associate yourself with because you could be guilty by affiliation and you haven't done anything.

Audria Richmond®:

And so you wanna pick friends who uplift you, who motivate you, who inspire you, who pull out the best in you, who challenges you, who's not gonna always be the yes man or the yes woman, right? And so you wanna make sure that you're being picky about your friends. Number 7, you have to learn how to make tough and quick decisions, right? What are the things that I feel like what I've been dealing with lately is I've been having a hard time with making tough decisions. I do think that I make decisions that I know I can like, you know, handle and manage very quickly, But I'm actually battling with a decision right now.

Audria Richmond®:

When I tell you I'm being challenged to the max, it is a very tough decision. And one thing about being a leader, being a CEO, being a person with vision, you have to learn how to make effective decisions and you have to learn how to make them quickly because it could be the difference between leading and failing. Right? Alright. Number 8, learn how to pitch.

Audria Richmond®:

There's so many ways that you could go about this, but, like, you have to learn how to email pitch, how to pitch your front investors, how to pitch in general. Hell, how do you pitch the client that you got a new program? How do you pitch on social media post? How do you pitch on a YouTube video? How do you pitch on your podcast?

Audria Richmond®:

How do you pitch in your interview? Learning how to properly communicate what you sell and what you offer is a must. Right? So learn how to pitch. Number 9, learn how to have successful meetings.

Audria Richmond®:

I can't begin to tell you how many people love wasting time meetings, just unsuccessful meetings. And I am learning through a book I recommended in our last new newsletter. You hopefully, y'all be looking at the book recommendations. That's a new addition to the audio newsletter, but at the at the end of every newsletter now, you'll start seeing book recommendations. And one of the books that I just finished is The Motive.

Audria Richmond®:

And when I tell you that book read me, oh, that book read me. Okay? Because one of the things he talked about is, like, leaders have to have meetings, and I'm very much so anti meeting, at least today. Right? Because this book is about you have to be in, you know, in love with having meetings, and I'm just like, what?

Audria Richmond®:

In love with having meetings. And I realized, recently that it's not that I don't like meetings. I don't like ineffective meetings. I don't like meetings just for the hell of it. I don't I don't like meetings that don't have a point or a purpose.

Audria Richmond®:

And so when I say learn how to have successful meetings, I'm talking about learning how to have meetings that are very effective, move the ball forward. Right? You're not wasting time. Number 10, learn how to close deals. Do you know how to go into a room, have a meeting, discuss an opportunity, and close a deal.

Audria Richmond®:

Because when the opportunity presents itself, you gotta know how to close the deal. Right? And so, hopefully, you all enjoyed these 10 speedy success habits. And why did I call it speedy? Because I believe if you learn needs, you will see a a a crazy switch in your growth and where you're going.
